Maximize Your Cover Crops with Livestock Grazing

Integrating livestock into your cover crop system is one of the quickest ways to see a return on your investment. We’ve experienced firsthand how grazing cover crops can benefit both land and animals.

From Our Farms to Yours

Bill’s Cow /Calf Operation:

After harvesting small grains, Bill plants a diverse cover crop mixture for grazing from mid-September until snow cover. Post-calving, his pairs are turned out onto these cover cropped fields, resulting in healthier, cleaner calves come spring.

James’s Farm:

James buys weaned calves in the fall and allows them to graze on corn stalks with seeded cover crops in late summer. This practice helps calves transition more healthily to the feedlot.
